Student Counseling Department
The DECE is responsible for providing comprehensive support to students in psychological, pedagogical, emotional, and social areas, providing them with the tools necessary to face educational challenges.
The DECE and Tutors work together through the "Veo Positivo" Program: a custom-made program for Colegio Americano. In weekly advisory classes, we promote social-emotional development and mental health care for our students, in accordance with our educational objectives and institutional values.
"Aprendiendo a Ser" Program
The Aprendiendo a Ser program is grounded in psychological training to ensure that students and members of the educational community promote emotional, social, and academic well-being. This is achieved through the development of soft skills that allow them to navigate the challenges of their educational stage through prevention and active promotion.
Specific Objectives:

Enhance emotional intelligence: Helping students identify, understand, and regulate their emotions to favor their emotional well-being

Promote intrinsic motivation: Stimulating interest in learning, fostering autonomy and responsibility in the educational process, and discovering their aptitudes and interests for vocational development.

Develop coping skills: Teaching techniques to face difficult situations, such as academic failure or external pressures.
4.
Foster a positive school climate: Contributing to an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative school environment that promotes the holistic development of students through assertive communication.
