The library of the Colegio Americano plays an important supporting role for the teaching-learning process in the three educational levels: pre-school, primary school and high school.
The Colegio Americano has 25,900 volumes in Spanish and English, as well as newspapers and magazines in both languages, all of which are located in areas adapted to the requirements of students and teachers. There are also stories, special collections, a computarized bibliographical data base, Internet resources, and the audio-visual department with more than 100 films in English and Spanish. The purpose of our service is to provide help and support to easily prepare projects and investigations.
Services offered:
Take home book loans.- Students can take books from the general collection home. This practice helps them to favor development, intellectual enrichment and permanent updating for their research as well as developing good reading habits.
Internal loans.- Students and teachers can consult reference materials (dictionaries, encyclopedias, newspapers, and magazines) in the library.
Projection room.- Teachers have a room available to project movies that form part of their classes.
Automatized catalogue.- This contains a listing of the informative resources that are available in the library. Reference services and labor consulting are carried out by the librarians with the students, teaching staff and administrative personal who are looking for information in the library in order for the user obtain what he or she needs. The library is open for the use of teachers and students from 7:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays and from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays. |
